Prompt Word: Sanction

Penny Collins, Business Manager

“I’m here to keep the business moving, and expand it where I can,” Penny Collins, the new Business Manager stated firmly.

“You are here because the owner’s nephew blew it, and the company faced both public embarrassment as well as financial sanction,” the grizzled floor supervisor Zhang quipped.

“That is probably why my current position opened up, but they hired me for it, not you,” she she said coldly. “By all means, I give you full permission to go above my head.”

Zhang picked up the phone, and dialled. Penny turned on her heal and headed to the production floor catwalk. Just in case she would be forced to make a quick decision, she wanted to have some faces in mind.

Ten minutes later, an all call rung across the building, “Miss Collins, please report to the C Suite.” The message repeated, and Penny was quite happy she’d been watching the floor.

When Penny arrived, she was shown directly to the VP’s office. Mr. Huntington started, “I hear the floor supervisor has quit. Is this going to be a problem?”

“I think Ms. Ismail would be the right choice,” Penny replied with her solution, instead of answering directly.

“Oh?” Huntington prompted.

“She’s a natural leader, and many on the floor already come to her with questions.”

“Write it up, and take it to Bob in HR.”
