Prompt Word: Shy
Minervie and Chip 14
She looked to be around Chips age, except the platinum hair and pointy ears, and she was knocking at the screen door. The inner door was wide open, and Chip just stood there staring. She knocked again, and mumbled, “I can see you, you know.”
Minervie came out of the den, walked past Chip, and came up to the screen door, “What is it I can do for you?”
“Delivery from the council,” she said.
Chip had approached, but was still hiding behind Minervie’s skirt. Minervie said, “Oh, he knows, he’s just shy.” Opening the screen door she let the delivery elf in.
“She bowed low, good to make your acquaintance, Minervie, the Witch of the Verdant Hill, I am Saraia, with your delivery,” she pulled a stack of boxes and envelopes from her messenger bag.
“Hold here a minute, I’ve got some outgoing,” Minervie said, and Saraia nodded.
“Introduce yourself before you turn to stone,” Minervie said to Chip as she stepped out from in front of him, and headed back to the den.
“Uh, Hi, uhhhh I’m Chip.”
“Hello Master Chip, it is good to make your acquaintance, I am Saraia.”
Chip was very confused looking, “Ack wane tents?”
“You are young, aren’t you? Acqaintance, it just means meeting, but for work,” Saraia explained.
“Can I touch your ears? Are they sharp?” Chip asked.
Saraia stepped back defensively, “No, you certainly may not, and they are not, they are my ears.”
Minervie approached, “Chip were going to have a talk about this. I’m sorry Miss Saraia, I’ll make sure he understands.”
“But I didn’t DO anything,” Chip whined.
“Here are my letters, thank you so much for waiting,” Minervie continued over Chip.
