Prompt Word: Float
Binity 1
Jeff wakes up from deep sleep on a standard supply transport just coming into the docking pattern for a community. Groggy, but awake, he pulls himself out of the sleep pod, transitioning from cargo to passenger, at least until next departure. The ship is already decelerating, so float time is already over.
He checks the cargo hold’s work-detail display, and doesn’t recognize the name of this stop: Binity.
Lack of recognition means Jeff has never been here before. More importantly, it means he’s never been never been chased out of this place. Perfect, just enough time to clean up before docking and ending this journey.
First order of business is a protein pack followed by fluids. Forgetting that will lead to a really, really bad hangover right around the time of docking. Nobody’s going to come around reminding the cargo to take care of themselves to avoid sleep sickness.
Just before docking is the perfect time to wash up and use the facilities, since the crew is all scrambling to finish their arrival checklists.
‘I hope I won’t have to go back into deep sleep for a really long time,’ Jeff thinks to himself.
