Having found her mischief easier to accomplish than she had thought, Minervie decided to take the extra few days away from Chip as a bit of a vacation. It was the beginning of summer here, where the snow was falling back home.
She decided to ask at the hotel she’d booked, and walked down the stairs to the front desk. The desk man had been trying to sneak a Danish pastry breakfast, and she had essentially snuck up on him. Minervie said, “Excuse me.”

He exclaimed, “Ga!” and did his best to hide his Danish while also trying to suppress a coughing fit.
Minervie was feeling impatient, and didn’t wait for his coughing to conclude, “Calm down young man. I concluded my business much faster than expected, and now I have time to fill. Any recommendations?”
With tears in his eyes, he handed her a flyer from the local tourist board for a mountain tour.

A mountain tour definitely was not her style. Also, the young man was starting to go a bit red, so she did a quiet little incantation. Minervie wouldn’t repeat exactly what happened to the man. She just said there was quite a mess for him to clean up, but he survived it.
She decided to go look for a boat cruise instead.
