Prompt Word: Drink

Minervie and Chip 42

Minervie rolled Gungan out of the Casualty Department, making sure to grab the clipboard with his information. “I assure you, though your bruises hurt, you are fully healed and able to walk,” she said, encouraging Gungan to stand from the gurney he’d been on for the last few hours. She stuffed the paper related to Gungan into her bag, stripped the sheets and kept those, too, and left the clipboard on the mattress.

Minervie walked with Gungan right out a side door and turned to walk North. On the way, he finally spoke, or tried to, since his lips weren’t fully the right shape. “I ask fo’ the days o’a, and they ’eat, uh, hit me, and noa I ha’e no jo’” She continued walking with him slowly toward the South edge of the Ennogara Creek.

Minervie said, “Gungan, you did nothing wrong, and you don’t have to explain yourself. What you need to do, right now, is sit down on the banks of this creek among the reeds that have grown since the last flood and just rest. I have to go back to the Royal Hospital to deal with some paperwork.”

Once they were there, she handed him a flask, “Have a drink, if you can.” At that she made sure he was settled with a view to the creek traffic, and added, “I’ll be back soon.”

Fourty minutes there, Minervie’s trip back only took ten minutes at her brisk pace. She went into the main entrance of the Royal Hospital with the letter she’d been sent, and presented it to the receptionist.

The receptionist picked up her phone and called someone… 45 minutes, and 10 people later, she flash burned the letter, as the last trace of paperwork that Gungan had been there. Finally, she returned to the bank and to Gungan.
