Prompt Word: Dash
Minervie and Chip 48
After an uneventful dash across the sky, which still took more than an hour, Minervie came out of the sky onto a dunny cart path about two blocks from the Brisbane train station, where she’d left her own broom. January meant that sunlight was still plentiful.
There was no trouble in getting her broom back. It was still on the platform wall where she’d left it.
She then took the Brisbane tram system out to the Rosalie neighborhood where Gungan was renting a room. He’d taken great pains to give her directions, but she had a much better idea of where he lives based on the actual address he’d offered.
When she arrived, the sunlight was fading, and she took the direct approach of knocking on the front door. A middle age, muscular man answered the door, and Minervie claimed herself to be a nun to collect some things for Gungan.
The man seemed concerned about next month’s rent, but otherwise didn’t set off any of Minervie’s warning triggers. He let her into Gungan’s attic room, and she grabbed about half of his posessions, making sure to grab his shaving kit and toothbrush.
Then back to The Orient Hotel to pick up her own suit case. Many eyes were on her boarding the tram with two brooms, and a giant trunk that she didn’t look like she should be able to carry.
Two connecting trams later, and she reached the Orient Hotel. There, she retrieved her bag, but also booked a room for the night. It was full dark out now, and she didn’t need to be carrying two cases while the rest of her night unfolded.
Leaving everything else in the room, she took her own broom straight out the second story window. This witch had plans.
