Don’t Look For Me On Facebook

I do have a Facebook account. I probably got the account back in 200?. I think around 2015 or 2016, I went through and deleted my old posts. I didn’t use a service to do this for me, I literally took the hours to go through and delete them one at a time.

That timeline is both when politics got scary, and when Facebook was feeding ragebait to everyone all the time. I’m sure my readers have never been younger and on social media realizing that opinions once shared are things we no longer believe, and - in fact - would be pretty embarrassed about. I’m confident that’s just a “me” thing.

For a long while after that, I’d log in maybe once a month, then once every few months. Now, I honestly don’t remember how many years it has been. I don’t miss it.

Why Mention It

This is stupid, but I have a short-url domain. It’s just for vanity stuff, shortcuts for my own memory, and handy links to things that are deep. For example, I have a very old color name/color wheel project that has a rather deep path on my website, voll.ink/color.

Okay, so I also have a short-url that points to my Facebook account. I really try to never delete short-urls that I’ve created, but I will edit them as things move. The short “facebook” now points here.

For posterity

Let me know if Facebook “cleans up” my account at some point, I guess…
