Prompt word: Ink

Drew opened the door, to see a group of men in dark suits, “Hello?”

A county sherrif stepped up from the back of the group, and handed him a piece of paper, “You have been served notice to vacate the premises.”

“Wait, what? Isn’t this my house now?” Drew protested.

A thin, short man held up his hand, and said, “This real property is now under the ownership of Brickell Finance.”

“Who?” Drew’s heart was racing now, and he wasn’t sure what any of this is about.

“This address is the former residence of one Ms. Teresa Kinde, nee Webster, correct?” said the short lawyer.

“Yes, that is my mother,” Drew was even more confused, “she DOES live here, now.”

The lawyer looked to the man to his left saying, “I’m no good with this part, would you take over?”

“Gladly…” the new voice looked at Drew and stepped forward, “I assume you are Drew Kinde?”

Drew nodded, “Yes.”

“Hello, Mr. Kinde. My name is Sylos Tsolakoglou, and I, well my colleagues and I, represent Brickell Finance… Just call my Sylos. First, it seems I need to inform you that one Ms. Teresa Kinde died approximately 2 hours ago. She had signed a reverse mortgage with our company several…” Sylos looked back to the thin man.

“Six years, two months and seven days ago.”

“Wait, she was just this-morning in for some X-Rays, this doesn’t make sense,” Drew wasn’t hearing what they were saying, he ran to his car and drove off, leaving the group of men at the stoop.

Officer Niit said, “Holy shit, the ink on her death certificate wouldn’t be dry yet and you are already moving?”

“Officer Niit,” the short man said, “do you agree or disagree that one Drew Kinde did voluntarily vacate these premises just now?”

Jonas Niit held out his open palm, and the short lawyer dropped $1000. “I, Officer Niit, agree that one Drew Kinde did voluntarily vacate these premises.”
