Chief Rithin knew he’d spoken out of turn. He didn’t think this was going to cause trouble since this an already convicted prisoner, so he hadn’t prepared as carefully as he would have for another crime. He was suddenly worried about getting down-ranked by the Count. “I’m sorry, my Lord, please ignore my outburst.”
The Baron raised an eyebrow, “Hmm?”
Rithin tried again, “If it pleases the Barron and this proceeding, I would request my previous statement be retracted.”
The Barron replied, “Guard Chief Rithin’s request is granted.” and slightly more quietly, “Now that your training has kicked in again.” Loudly again, “Advocate Cring’s submission has been considered, and accepted. The prisoner is proven innocent by lack of any evidence of a crime. Free the prisoner. Rithin, stay here, everyone else, clear the room.”
